Frequently Asked Questions
What are semi-custom cabinets?
Semi-custom cabinets are cabinets ordered out of a catalog that come prefinished with increment sizes and are ordered to fit a certain space or room.
How much do kitchen cabinets cost?
There is quite a range in price for cabinets. Costs depend on many factors including whether you are getting custom, box, semi-custom, painted or stained, and what door style you choose.
Where to donate my old cabinets?
Most home flippers will take old cabinets from Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Sometimes, Habitat for Humanity will take old cabinets if there is no damage to them.
How many kitchen cabinets do you need?
You need as many cabinets to hold your pans, dishes, cookware, silverware, spices, oils, and pantry items.
What styles of kitchen cabinets are considered timeless?
Raised panel doors, slab drawer fronts, and flat panel Shaker style doors and drawer fronts are styles that stand the test of time.
How close to the ceiling can cabinets be placed?
Cabinets can go up to 1” below the ceiling with crown molding covering the rest.
How long does it take to get semi-custom cabinets?
Generally, we get our semi-custom cabinets delivered to Burkhart Company between 2-4 weeks from the time of sign off on the drawings. Your install will be pre-scheduled based on this timeline and the readiness of your kitchen remodel.
Do I need a remodeler to redo my kitchen?
The answer in general is we do not require it. However, we don’t do plumbing, flooring, electrical, drywall, interior paint, or move structural walls. So, it is recommended if your kitchen remodel requires a lot of moving parts and subcontractors.
Do I need my floors done before or after my cabinets go in?
We highly recommend to have your floors installed and finished before we set cabinets. This creates a much cleaner look without having to put shoe mold and trim pieces around your cabinetry. If this is unavoidable due to scheduling or builder preferences, we will provide the decorative molding to match the color or stain of the cabinets, but we won’t install it.
